Good Neighbor Festival Parade Sunday, August 26th, noon

No Good Neighbor Festival would be complete without the big parade! Bring your whole family to see the floats, bands, fire engines and local organizations as they march down University Avenue. This year’s parade will have brand-new entries along with the attractions you look forward to seeing every year.

The parade committee is excited about the Mardi Gras theme for this year’s festival, and is looking forward to seeing how our parade entries express the Mardi Gras spirit. To encourage our entries, the committee is bringing back parade awards. A panel of judges will score each entry based on effort, adherence to the theme, appearance, originality and enthusiasm. The highest scoring overall entry will receive an award, as will the highest scoring entry in each of four categories: business/commercial, community/non-profit, professional entertainment and volunteer entertainment.

There will also be a people’s choice award for one overall best entry. Voting will open when the parade begins at Noon on Sunday, August 26, and there are two ways to vote: by commenting on social media posts on the Festival’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, or by voting in person at the Information Booth on the Festival grounds. One vote per person per voting method.

Voting for the people’s choice award ends at 2:30 p.m., and an award ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m.

Beginning at noon, the parade will travel west along University Avenue from Branch Street, and then turn right (north) onto Parmenter Street before ending at Lee Street (just short of the roundabout). The parade emcee will be stationed at Middleton Sport Bowl, 6815 University Ave., next to Willy Street Co-op.

Parade registration is now closed. Come out and enjoy our fantastic line up and consider joining us next year!
