The Kiddie Parade is an annual tradition, with kids parading on the grounds with goody bags and many more surprises! The 2019 Kiddie Parade will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019. Line up starts at 5 p.m. in front of Middleton High School and the parade starts at 5:30 p.m. No registration needed. It’s a great way to kick off the Festival!
The popular event is enjoyed by hundreds of kids each year. Some walk, some ride in their stroller or wagon powered by their parents, some ride their decorated bikes or tricycles and some watch the fun from the sidelines.
The theme of the Festival this year is “Super Hero City-Celebrating Those Who Serve” and kids can have fun dressing up as their favorite comic book super hero or real life hero, like firefighters, police officers, first responder, military member, teacher or volunteer.
The parade is led by the Middleton Fire Department along with the UW Alumni Band. The parade route is south on Bristol Street, west on North, north on Clark and east on Lee Street (the route goes around Middleton High School) where it ultimately ends up on the Good Neighbor Festival grounds.
The first 200 parade participants will receive a goodie bag of treats and treasures at the end of the route.
When the parade arrives on the Festival Grounds, families will be greeted with free face-painting, free caricature art by Expressively You, hands-on experiments with Science is Fun with Shakhashiri, magic performed by James the Magician, and live music by Blue Accordion and Friends to delight kids of all ages.
Make plans to stay for the evening as Festival sponsors UW Credit Union and Infinity Martial Arts present Friday Night Movie Night. Bring folding chairs or a blanket to watch Incredibles 2 at 6:30 pm and Captain Marvel at 9 pm.
Dinner is available at the Good Neighbor Festival Food Court, including a return of our Friday Night Fish Fry, as well as hamburgers, veggie burgers, brats, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese! Kids meals will also be available. Other food options on the grounds include a Dessert Court from Troop 140, Italian Beef Sandwiches from the Lions Club, Sweet Corn at the Middleton Youth Hockey tent, Sugar River Kettle Corn and a Mini-Donut stand.
Come join in for a great old-fashioned evening of fun.
