Good Neighbor Festival Parade

Everybody Loves A Parade

Middleton High School Marching Band Color Guard

The Good Neighbor Festival Parade will be held on Sunday, August 25, at noon.  This marquee GNF event is one of the largest community parades held in the Madison area each year.  See below for details about participating in or helping sponsor this year’s parade.

Participating in the Parade

Festival organizers welcome participation by for-profit and non-profit organizations that have a stake in the greater Middleton community.  To maintain the GNF Parade’s longstanding tradition of being an inclusive event focused on providing enjoyment for the entire community, no elected officials, declared candidates for elected office, or political organizations are allowed to have parade entries, with the exception of the Mayor of Middleton and City Alderpersons as long as they do not engage in campaigning related to running for (re)election to office.  This policy doesn’t impede upon any person’s right to distribut information or to meet people along the parade route as long as he or she is not traveling in the street while the parade is underway.

Registration

To register please click here and respond to each field.  Be sure to include a description of what you’d like the parade emcee to say about your parade entry as you pass by the reviewing sand.  Please allow a few days to receive confirmation of receipt of your application.

To help offset operating expenses, the 2024 parade entry fee is $250.00, unless applicants proved evidence via email of non-profit status.  Parade organizers will contact you regarding fee payment after you have submitted your application.

Parade Awards

This year’s theme is “The Greatest Show in Town”. Participants are asked to bring their most creative Circus Big Top ideas to their entries.  Prizes are awarded for overall entertainment value and representation of the 2024 theme. Categories include:

  • Best Overall Entry
  • Best Business Entry
  • Best Non-Profit Entry
  • Best Youth Group Entry
  • Best Entertainment

Are you a Middleton Area business who would like to contribute to the festival and earn some extra publicity? Consider sponsoring a parade entry such as the UW CHeer Squad, a marching band, stilt walkers, or another performance! Contact the parade organizer for more information.
